Every minute, a child goes blind somewhere in the world; but, 77% is avoidable!
It is vital to detect and treat eye problems within the Golden Treatment Window (generally before the age of 7 but may vary with different eye diseases). Failure to do so will make it almost impossible to save their sight and may even result in blindness.
It is challenging for anyone having to deal with vision loss, however, the impact on children is greater than just not being able to see their parents. Experts noted that around 80% of children’s knowledge is acquired visually, therefore, no matter the level of visual impairment experienced, it will become some form of a stumbling block to their learning, while as their bodies and minds are still developing, so will their physical and mental development be affected.
Without a doubt, vision loss has far-reaching consequences to the lives of the children, their families, and the community. Help us to protect visually impaired children living in different developing countries, and ensure we can continue to provide life-transforming help in some of the poorest parts of the world.
Your support will allow us to direct continuing effort in the fight to prevent and treat avoidable blindness.
