2025 Orbis Action for Sight

The theme of this year's AFS is Discover a Different Kind of Cuteness. It aims to raise public awareness and remind the people of Macau the importance of healthy sight, and how it is with the ability to see that we can perceive and value the vast wonders around us, including our subjective appreciation for beauty and cuteness, as well as allowing for us to discern dangers through to shaping our emotional and overall health, education and employment.

During the campaign, every donation will receive an AFS Sticker Sheet as a token of appreciation. For donations of MOP$100 or above, donors will also receive one randomly selected AFS Pin.

This year’s pin set features four cute designs:

• Master Witty Cat
• Cheeky Doogo
• Derpy Goofy

This year, we bring to you another informative Virtual Exhibition - presenting you with a convenient way to go on a tour to understand what your support is helping to drive, the changes you are enabling, and the future of lasting eye health legacy that we are building together!

Meet Charity, a mother from rural Zambia, who relies on farming to support her family. In 2022, she was forced to stop working when she nearly lost sight in her left eye. The following year, tragedy struck again —her husband passed away, and her right eye began to deteriorate. These back-to-back hardships left her feeling helpless. Her greatest fear was no longer being able to care for her children.

Just when hope seemed out of reach, a cataract treatment training program—jointly launched by Orbis and Zambia’s health authority—offered her a life-changing opportunity. Doctors diagnosed her with cataracts in both eyes, and she underwent surgery. 

The moment her eye patch was removed and she saw light again, tears of joy streamed down her face. She could finally see her children’s smiles once more, and with that, her hope for life was rekindled.
